SOME COMMON PROCEDURES FOR 3 D MODELS
Alter the parameters by editing a file *.des or read in an
existing *.des (see examples below) file and changing the
parameters in the Utility>parameters>scalar. (see Mag_3d for
documentation for existing templates)
When switching from one motor type to another, it is reccommended
to first clear the data base. The Toolbar will automatically be
reinstalled.
EXAMPLE DESIGN PARAMETER FILE FOR 3D MODEL:
mach3d.des 10 pole , PM on rotor, 1/5 th model
parallel magnization
(contains example winding in mach2.wnd)
Use <B_ROTOR> and <STATOR> to build the model.
Use the following toolbar items
1) To build the model
LOAD THE PARAMETERS
<get_dims> (input 'mach3d' for the parameter file)
BUILD THE 2D MODEL
<b_rotor> ( builds the PM rotor, or use the appropriate
Toolbar item, <SLOT_ROT> for a slotted rotor)
<stator> ( builds the 2d stator model, uniform thickness teeth)
BUILD 3D MODEL AND COMPLETE THE CONDITIONS
<build3d> (extrudes the 2D model into a 3D model)
<even_bc> ( applies even periodic boundary conditions )
<rotate> ( moves the rotor for the specified mechanical degrees)
Use the macro b_wndsc.mac to build the coils based on the parameter
data and the winding file mach2.wnd For the mach3d parameter file
an example usage of the macro is
b_wndsc,'mach2','s_iron',.05,.1,.2,6,1.75,30
<Load> ( user is prompted for electrical angle and peak current)
2) To Solve
<solution> ( performs a SINGLE solution, linear or nonlinear)
3) To post process, use the <mag_3d> to review the post processing
features.
